Minhang District’s government has made several efforts to construct the Infrastructure for the district. The water, gas and electricity supply, the drainage, and communication systems are quite mature today.

Water Supply: The whole district’s consumption of water in 2006 was around 290 million cubic meters. Among these, the domestic water supply is all from the upper stream of Huangpu River.

Electricity Supply: There are 7 substations of 220 thousand volt-ampere, one of 110 thousand volt-ampere and 52 of 35 thousand volt-ampere in the district.

Gas Supply: Minhang District is the first in the city to be covered 100% by gas supply. The construction of the gas line from the East Sea has also been completed.

Communication: There are 881,000 exchanges, 902,600 telephone users, and 216,800 ADSL users in the whole district.

Sewer systems: Since the end of 2006, three sewage treatment plants have been constructed in the district, having a daily capacity of 100,000 tons. And there are four intercepting sewer systems with the capacity of  550,000 tons. In addition, the sewage treatment systems built by the industrial enterprises can handle 260,000 tons daily.
