In 2007, Total value of industrial output of Minhang District has reached a new height,the districts industrial output value totaled 328.339 billion yuan in 2007, or up 8.4 percent over the previous year. The sales revenue totaled 327.007 billion yuan, up 8.2 percent. The total industrial profit rose 23.7 percent to 17.8 billion yuan.

Twelve of its enterprises ranked among Shanghais top 50 industrial enterprises. In the year, the district generated 11.23688 billion KWH of thermal power, produced 2,979 metal-cutting machine tools, with the turbogenerators having a generating capacity of 28.30 million KW. The district produced 10.17 million micro electronic computers.

Key Industries

In 2007, the district had 9 advanced manufacturing industries. They were respectively the manufacturing of communications equipment, computers and other electronic equipment, the manufacturing of electric equipment, machinery and materials, the manufacturing of general equipment, the manufacturing of industrial chemicals and chemical products, the manufacturing of clothing, footwear and headwear, the manufacturing of special equipment, the manufacturing of plastic products, the manufacturing of communications and transportation equipment, and the manufacturing of food products.

High Technologies

The district had 371 high-tech industrial enterprises in 2007, which had a total industrial output value of 129.659 billion yuan or up 3.2 percent over the previous year and accounted for 42.1 percent of the districts total industrial output value.

The main high-tech industries included electronics and information, optical, mechanical and electronic integration, bio-pharmaceutical technologies, aerospace, and applied nuclear technologies.

Information Products

In 2007, the district had 153 enterprises producing information products. Their industrial output value totaled 103.995 billion yuan, which accounted for 33.8 percent of the districts total industrial output value. Their economic performance was good.

Electronic information equipment manufacturing accounted for 57.7 percent of all information products manufacturing and became a leading sector of the districts information products manufacturing. The second and third places were electronic components manufacturing and communications equipment manufacturing, respectively accounting for 16.2 percent and 13.8 percent.

Economic Efficiency

In 2007, the industries in the district saw their core business revenue rising 9.8 percent to 333.664 billion yuan, and their total profit rising 23.7 percent to 17.8 billion yuan. Based on the seven major qualitative indicators, the districts composite index of industrial economic efficiency was 187.3.
