把经贸合作提升到新阶段 杨雄会见韩国首尔市和济州道客人

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met with his Seoul counterpart Park Won-soon and Jeju Province Governor Won Hui-ryong yesterday as they led a South Korean tourism delegation to Shanghai.

Yang spoke highly of South Korean authorities’ efforts to contain the spread of MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome) and said he believed their country’s tourism and other industries will recover as the epidemic is over.

He said China and the Republic of Korea have good relationship and have signed a free trade agreement recently for closer cooperation in economy and trade. Shanghai also has agreements with Seoul Special City and Jeju Province for exchange and cooperation in various fields. Shanghai companies are encouraged to invest in Korea.

Park Won-soon and Won Hui-ryong said that tourists from China, particularly from Shanghai, have helped improve mutual understanding between the two peoples. They hope more Chinese will travel to their country.

The two leaders said they believed the China-ROK free trade agreement will boost economic and trade ties between the two countries.

South Korea Consul General in Shanghai Han Sukhee joined the meeting.
