Shanghai mayor meets Georgian deputy PM
与“一带一路”沿线深化合作 杨雄会见格鲁吉亚第一副总理

MAYOR Yang Xiong met with Dimitry Kumsishvili, first deputy prime minister and minister of economy and sustainable development of Georgia, in Shanghai on Wednesday.

Yang said Shanghai is an open city and is playing an active role in the “Belt and Road” initiative. Shanghai wants to strengthen cooperation with Georgia and other countries along the Silk Road.

He briefed the Georgian guests on Shanghai’s effort to become an international economic, financial, trade and shipping center, reforms and innovations under way in Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone, and the city’s endeavor to become a global innovation center. All these create opportunities for cooperation with foreign countries.

The mayor said he hopes Shanghai can have win-win cooperation with Georgia for mutual economic development.

Kumsishvili said Georgia has a good environment for investors and investment from China has been increasing in recent years. Georgia supports China’s “Belt and Road” initiative and hopes to cooperate with China in more fields.

The deputy prime minister welcomes more Shanghai companies to invest in Georgia.

Wang Zhixiong, vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Shanghai Committee, and Georgian Ambassador to China David Aptsiauri were also present at the meeting.
