Shanghai Party leader meets Ethiopian delegation
推动教育合作上新台阶 韩正会见埃塞俄比亚代表团一行

SHANGHAI Party Secretary Han Zheng met an Ethiopian official delegation led by the African country’s Deputy Prime Minister, Demeke Mekonnen.

Han said China and Ethiopia are both ancient civilizations and developing countries with a long history of friendly relationship.

He said China’s reform and opening in the past 35 years shows that a country’s development depends on correct government policies. The Chinese Communist Party found socialism with Chinese characteristics suits the country’s conditions. Pudong’s achievement in the past 25 years is a fine example of this economic policy.

Han said China needs to improve its education because the quality of its people depends on the quality of education. It is important for realizing the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation. One of the key areas of cooperation between Shanghai and Ethiopia is education.

He said the delegation’s visit would promote cooperation between both sides.

Mekonnen said he was very glad to visit Shanghai. Ethiopia and China have many things in common. Both countries’ ruling parties face the task of social and economic development. Shanghai’s experiences in innovation and social management are worth learning for Ethiopia.

He said he hoped the two countries can cooperate closely in more areas.
