Mayor meets Polish president
上海与波兰进一步加强交往 杨雄会见波兰总统杜达一行

SHANGHAI Mayor Yang Xiong met Polish President Andrzej Duda on Monday.
Yang said that China and Poland has long-term friendly ties and Shanghai and Poland’s cooperation can be dated back to very early.
He said that Chinese-Polish Joint Stock Shipping Company is a seafaring transport joint venture founded by China and Poland in 1951 and the first joint venture of the newly founded People’s Republic of China, which played a key role to break the economic blockade and trade embargo.
Yang continued that this year is the 30th anniversary of the establishment of friendly relationship between Shanghai and Poland’s Pomeranian Voivodeship and the two sides have achieved many fruits in cooperation in fields such as economic and trade, culture as well as education.
Yang also said that Shanghai is striving to become an international economic, financial, trade and shipping center as well as a global innovation center and expand opening at the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone, which all provide broad grounds for Shanghai and Poland to conduct and deepen cooperation.
Yang believed that the president’s visit will further promote China-Poland friendly ties and cooperation between Shanghai and Poland in fields such as trade, economy, science and technology, culture and education.
Duda said that Poland and Shanghai have a long friendly history and Poland is one of the several countries to set up a general consulate in Shanghai early after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.
Duda continued that Poland successfully participated in World Expo 2010 Shanghai, which laid a solid foundation for cooperation between Poland and China as well as Poland and Shanghai.
Duba expected that Shanghai can contribute more to boost cooperation between Poland and China in the future.
Chinese Ambassador to Poland Xu Jian and Polish Ambassador to China Mirosław Gajewski joined the meeting.
