Woman jailed for 10 years for robbery

A WOMAN was sentenced to 10 years and two months in jail and fined 10,000 yuan (US$1612) after a planned badger game ended up in robbery, the Jinshan District People’s Court announced yesterday.
The convict, Chen Xiaomei, and her boyfriend thought up a badger plan as they had run up a huge gambling debt. She lured a target and robbed him on October 25 last year, the court heard.
The victim, surnamed Wang, told police that a scantily-dressed woman approached him on the road for “massage.” But Wang got cold feet when he walked into the room and decided against it. A tough-looking guy then walked in and Chen plucked the gold ring from Wang’s finger.
The male suspect held on to Wang while Chen also removed his bracelet. Chen sold the stolen ring and bracelet for 30,000 yuan later. She was caught on November 26 last year but the male suspect is still at large.
