What city looks like from floor 118

SHANGHAI Tower yesterday opened its sightseeing observatory on the 118th floor, with an admission fee of 180 yuan (US$26).

The 546-meter-high observatory, named the “Top of Shanghai,” covers over 1,000 square meters. Visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of the city from the glass walls.

They will be able to take three high-speed elevators to reach the observatory within a minute.

The tower, which is 632 meters high and has 137 floors, is the world’s second tallest building. Dubai’s Burj Khalifa is the tallest.

The observatory, which opens daily between 8:30am and 9:30pm, has souvenir stores, a post office and exhibition areas.

Built at a cost of 15 billion yuan, though yet to fully open, Shanghai Tower features offices, shops, restaurants and a hotel.
