City food safety watchdog warns of veg tape

SHOPPERS have been warned to be wary of buying vegetables bound with adhesive tape. These are usually industrial tape with high levels of formaldehyde and benzene, said city food safety officials yesterday. Long-term intake of vegetables contaminated by this tape can be harmful to the digestive system, kidneys and liver, they added.
