Two students accused of hacking school grade system, altering records for 200 classmates

TWO students from a college in Songjiang District have been held by police for hacking their school's website and falsifying records of hundreds of students' morning run performances.

The pair were paid more than 80,000 yuan by more than 200 schoolmates who sought to evade the required physical education performance. Songjiang police said.

The suspects, surnamed Chen and Zhang, in fear of getting poor grades due to their low attendance in the morning P.E. class, are accusing of breaking into the system and revising their own scores in December 2013.

Many other students turned to them for help after hearing about their successful effort.

In the following four months, Chen introduced many schoolmates to Zhang, who hacked the P.E. score data many times, police said. The pair charged 15 yuan to 20 yuan for each morning run, gaining more than 80,000 yuan from over 200 students, said police.

The school found the falsification in March and fixed the vulnerability. It also reported the incident to local police, who arrested Chen and Zhang.
