Sunday is peak holiday day on the railways
THE city’s railway stations are expected to handle at least 1.5 million passenger departures from tomorrow until Tuesday for the Dragon Boat holiday.
The city’s railway authority said yesterday that railway traffic was expected to rise 9.5 percent, or by 131,100 passengers, over the same period last year.
Sunday is expected to see the most traffic, with railway stations handling about 478,000 departures.
To meet demand, the authority has added 43 train services, heading for nearby cities including Nanjing, Hangzhou and Ningbo.
