Sisters reunited with lost father

A 70-year-old man from Taiwan who went missing in Shanghai for almost two days was yesterday reunited with his two daughters.

Wang Mao-hsiung arrived in the city about noon on Tuesday to visit his younger daughter, who lives in Jing’an District. He later left her apartment to go for a walk, but failed to return.

After becoming worried, the daughter reported her dad missing with Jing’an police. On Wednesday afternoon, a missing person notice was issued asking officers across the city to be on the look out for Wang, who his daughter said suffers from mild amnesia.

Wang was first spotted by a police officer who found him in a drunken stupor outside Shanghai Museum on Wednesday evening.

Though the officer was unaware that the man was Wang, he took him into custody.

When questioned yesterday, Wang said he couldn’t remember his daughter’s name or where she lived. In a bid to identify the man, police issued a notice on Weibo yesterday.

Just 10 minutes later, while on its rapid flight through cyberspace, the message was spotted by Wang’s daughter who contacted police. Soon after, the woman and her elder sister enjoyed a tearful reunion with their dad.
