Shining on Shanghai

A “blood moon” shone over Shanghai last night as the city enjoyed an excellent view of the total lunar eclipse.

It began at 4:15pm and lasted until 9:33pm. The total eclipse took place between 6:25 and 7:24pm, when the moon appeared a coppery red.

Although in the Earth’s shadow, the color was the result of some sunlight still reaching the moon.

The Shanghai Science and Technology Museum in the Pudong New Area and the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory in Songjiang District organized viewings but it was easily seen from most parts of the city.
