Sheshan line to see sights

A sightseeing mini railway line has been planned for the Sheshan Hill National Resort to connect its major scenic spots, along with cycling and pedestrian routes, the Songjiang District government said yesterday.

The mini train line is planned to run between Sheshan Hill Station on Metro Line 9 and the No.1 entrance to the Chenshan Botanical Garden.

The mini line will stop at seven stations, including Yuehu Sculpture Park, Happy Valley recreational park, Maya Water Park and East Sheshan Hill.

The line will connect with cycling and pedestrian routes to allow pedestrians and cyclists to switch transport modes if they wished, an official with the district said.

Four ring-shape cycling routes have been designed for the resort, according to the district’s tourism authority.

The “lake and hill scenery” route will go around the sculpture park. A pedestrian path will be built alongside the cycling route.

The “countryside flavor” route will be built within the Chenshan Botanical Garden.

The “journey for exploring” will run through the Guangfulin Relics.

The route of “vitality and happiness,” the largest cyclist route, will be built along the hills and mountains within the resort, the authority said.
