Shedding Light On Illumination Regulation

SHANGHAI is about to initiate China’s first regulation on how to properly illuminate parks at night.

Shanghai Greenery and Sanitation Administration Bureau said 89 local parks had been opening to the public during the day and into the night. Twenty-one parks, including the popular Zhongshan and Xiangyang parks, were open round the clock.

Most of these parks were designed only for daytime use, with little illumination provided, so it was necessary to devise a standard to regulate the illumination installations for parks that are open day and night, an official with the greenery administration said.
