Shanghai Tower climbers foiled
THE property management company in charge of Shanghai Tower said yesterday they recently blocked three foreigners from trying to scale the world’s second-tallest building.
Officials were alerted to the planned attempt after images were posted online of Russian daredevils Vadim Makhorov and Ukrainian Vitaly Raskalov, who shot to fame after climbing the tower last February.
The company provided scant details of the would-be climbers, but said in a statement that “we condemn this kind of act, as entering Shanghai Tower without permission can be dangerous ... We will take legal action.”
The building repeated its promise to enhance around the tower, which is scheduled to open “soon.”
