Rubber Duck rival lands in Baoshan

THE famous “Rubber Duck” artwork currently wowing the crowds at Century Park has a city rival ... in a residential complex in Baoshan District.

Some 60 moms clubbed together to buy a replica of the work by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman to keep their children entertained.

But while the world-famous bath toy at the Pudong New Area park stands 18-meter high, the Baoshan version is a more modest 2 meters.

The moms each chipped in 30 yuan (US$4.90) to buy the duck, which is now attracting visitors to a pond inside the complex, Shanghai Television news reported.

The moms said that as they didn’t have time to take their children to see the full-sized artwork, they came up with the idea of getting their own rubber duck instead.
