Police quiz man over deaths of wife, baby
A MAN has been detained after allegedly confessing to the murder of his wife and daughter, Shanghai police said yesterday.
The 25-year-old migrant worker, surnamed Feng, contacted police on Monday afternoon to say he had bludgeoned to death his 22-year-old wife, surnamed Ran, and 1-year-old daughter at their home in the village of Xindong in the Pudong New Area, police said.
He said he attacked them following a minor dispute.
Police went to the property and found the bodies of the mother and daughter. A forensic team confirmed they had been beaten to death with a blunt object.
Feng, who is a native of Southwest China’s Guizhou Province, was not in the house when the police arrived, but was found later at an Internet cafe in Huinan Town in Pudong.
