Plans for park force 3 firms in Minhang to move out

THREE heavily polluting enterprises are being moved out from Minhang’s Pujiang Town to make way for a park.

The three firms were mainly involved in enamel and plastic product manufacturing, taking up a total space of 43,000 square meters. Residents have been complaining about the dust and air pollutants, as well as pungent smell discharged from the factories.

According to Minhang District government, the largest company among the three, Shanghai Baoshi Industry Enamel Company, has agreed to move all its plants and facilities out of the area this month, while the other two unnamed enterprises have already vacated the area.

The vacated land will be turned into Pujiang Suburban Park. The project was listed as one of the city’s environmental renovation plans this year.

The park will cover some 89,535 square meters in the future, as the district government has been pulling down factories and farm houses around the locality.
