THE Shanghai Sports Lottery Management Center yesterday dismissed claims that the city will host an international horse racing event next July.
The denial came after a report in the overseas edition of People’s Daily last week said the Beijing-based Chinese Derby Society will stage such an event. The center said it had no knowledge of such a plan. An official newspaper of the national Welfare Lottery Distribution and Management Center said the Chinese Derby Society was not legally registered in China, has no official website in the country and is not supported by a lottery department.
