Nighttime opening for parks

ALFRESCO dancers in Changning District will soon be able to trip the moonlight fantastic in the park — just as long as they keep the noise down.

From July 1, all 12 parks in the district will be open until 9pm, said Zhu Qiheng, director of the district’s greenery management bureau.

While the decision is likely to be welcomed by the dancing community, Zhu said consideration will be given to other park users.

Dance organizers will be allowed to use only small, speakers and they must get permission from park supervisors. Anyone found guilty of causing noise pollution could face a fine of up to 500 yuan (US$80), he said.
