Man charged with strangling his wife, 20, and smearing her body with salt
A MAN charged with strangling his 20-year-old wife in a hotel room smeared her body with salt before checking out, prosecutors in Minhang District said yesterday.
When police responded to a call from the hotel in the district’s Pujiang Town on September 17 about a noxious odor, they found a woman’s naked body under a bed, covered in salt in a bid to hide the smell.
The dead woman was identified as Zhou, a migrant from central China’s Henan Province who had got married just one month previously. Her husband, 25-year-old Huang, was traced by police four days later in Beijing.
Prosecutors said Huang told them there had been an argument after Zhou accused him of having an affair with a work colleague. He told prosecutors that he lost his temper and strangled her.
He checked out the next day and fled to Beijing, prosecutors said, where he was later apprehended by police.
