‘Murder’ roommate held over attack

A WOMAN said to have told airport police in Wuhan, in central China’s Hubei Province, that she had murdered her roommate in Shanghai has been held on suspicion of causing injury.

The woman, surnamed Xu, was flown back to Shanghai accompanied by city officers late last Saturday evening, police said yesterday.

Xu, who works in Shanghai, got off a flight at Tianhe International Airport last Saturday morning, reported the Chutian Metropolis Daily.

She is alleged to have approached patrolling officers and told them that she had killed her roommate in Zhabei District.

Both the women involved are reported to be software developers with a city technology company.

Alerted by colleagues in Wuhan, Shanghai police rushed to the apartment and found the roommate, surnamed Guo, with a wound to her neck.

She was taken to hospital and was reported yesterday to be in a stable condition.

According to Wuhan police, Xu confessed to stabbing Guo with a fruit knife and slashing her neck with a cleaver last Friday morning after an argument, leaving her covered in blood.

They had argued recently over a relationship with a fitness coach, said police.

Xu is said to have told police that she then left the apartment and wandered around in the city until the next morning when she decided to go to her hometown in Hubei.

Before the flight landed, she decided to turn herself in to the authorities, Wuhan police said.

It was reported that Xu and Guo, who comes from neighboring Anhui Province, work together as software developers and had before that been classmates at college in Qingdao, in east China’s Shandong Province.
