Metro waiting times shortened

TRAINS will run more frequently and for longer on Metro lines 13 and 16 from Friday, the operator said yesterday.

On Line 13, the waiting time between trains during the morning and evening rush hour will be cut to six minutes from eight in a bid to reduce bottlenecks, while the last train of the day will depart Jinshajiang Road station seven minutes later than previously, at 10:37pm.

On Line 16, the rush hour interval will be shortened to eight minutes, from 10, with the waiting period at all other times cut to between 12 and 18 minutes. The final Line 16 train will leave Luoshan Road for Dishui Lake nine minutes later than before, at 10:09pm.

Meanwhile, the company said that with the completion of the Line 16 extension to Longyang Road — scheduled for the end of the year — the station will become an interchange for Metro lines 2, 7 and 16, thanks to the construction of a network of interconnecting tunnels.

The tunnels will also provide access from all three lines to the maglev service to Pudong International Airport.
