Man ‘killed brother of ex-wife’ in money row
A man suspected of fatally stabbing his ex-wife’s brother during a fight has been arrested for intentional injury, the Jiading District People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.
According to prosecutors, the man, surnamed Jiang, suspected that his ex-wife had an affair with another man during their marriage and pocketed their joint savings.
Jiang traveled to her hometown in Jiangsu Province, where she had relocated with their daughter after their divorce, and on several occasions demanded money, said prosecutors.
In January, Jiang again went to her home and this time cut her arm with a knife. Later in a fight with Wei’s brother, Jiang fatally stabbed him in the chest with scissors, according to prosecutors.
Jiang confessed after being captured by police, prosecutors said, but insisted that he did not intend to kill him.
Under Chinese law, intentionally inflicting an intentional injury that causes death can be sentenced to not less than 10 years, life imprisonment or death.
