Man held for killing colleague over debt

A man was held for killing his colleague to escape paying a debt of 70,000 yuan, Jiefang.cn reported.
The man surnamed Ai and his woman colleague, who was not identified, quarreled over a 70,000-yuan debt on July 3. Ai lured the woman into an elevator and hammered her on the head in a residential community in Minhang District where the woman lived. Then he slashed her neck, face and wrist with a knife.
But at that time the lift failed and Ai was locked inside. Her husband along with a guard found them in the lift.
Ai told police that both of them worked in a local sanitation company. In 2014, he promised to offer a job to the woman’s son and asked 70,000 yuan in return. But Ai failed to make it. The woman asked her money back and threatened to tell the truth to the company executives.
Ai was held for homicide.
