Man, 44, dies after collapsing on Metro Line 2 during rush hour

A man collapsed and died on a train on heading towards Pudong International Airport on Metro Line 2 during evening rush hour despite efforts to save him.
The man, 44, who was not identified, collapsed at about 7pm on Friday with tic of limbs and foaming from the mouth.
When the train reached Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station, the Metro staff called for an ambulance and made a public announcement looking for doctors.
Liu Yang and Yang Lei, two doctors from Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, who happened to be in another carriage of the train, rushed to the scene and checked the man. They gave him CPR but when it failed to revive him urged the staff not to move the man before the ambulance arrived.
On their advice, the Metro operator held back the train at the station until the ambulance arrived, causing a delay of nearly 30 minutes on the line.
The doctors told Shanghai Daily that when they reached the man, he did not have any heart beat. Dr. Liu did the cardiopulmonary resuscitation for 10 minutes which helped but 10 minutes later it stopped again.
Dr. Yang and two other passengers helped with chest compression but to no avail.
"We're very grateful for the understanding of passengers," said Jiang Haiyun, an officer at the station.
"It was rush hour and the platform was very crowded. However, everyone was very cooperative and helped to maintain order with our staff."
The ambulance arrived about 7:30pm and he was rushed to Renji Hospital but he died the same night.
