Landlord on trial for rape bid
A LANDLORD will stand trial for indecent assault of two tenants, the Baoshan District People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.
The man surnamed Qian from Luodian Town lured two young single women, both tenants, into his apartment, and indecently assaulted them in two separate cases, the procuratorate said.
Baoshan police were notified on January 23 when one of the tenants surnamed Lin reported that Qian tried to rape her, but failed.
Police said Qian told Lin to fill in a form for temporary population counting as an excuse and lured her into his apartment on January 23.
He dragged Lin into the bedroom on the second floor after holding a pair of scissors against her and tried to rape her but was unsuccessful.
Police investigation revealed that Qian was involved in another incident in April 2011.
He asked her to come over on the pretext of returning rental deposit. Qian then forcibly kissed and molested her. But the woman managed to get away.
Qian surrendered to police on January 23, but denied sexual harassment, which was rejected by the procuratorate. He was arrested in February.
