Graduate held after massage woman killed
A COLLEGE graduate has been detained after a woman offering massage services was murdered in her downtown home.
Police said the woman’s body was found in her apartment on Jiujiang Road in Huangpu District on Sunday morning. The victim, a Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region native surnamed Shen, made a living providing massage services.
Police said they tracked down the suspect, surnamed Wu, at his home within five hours.
According to police, Wu told them that he got to know Shen through the Internet, and went to her home last Tuesday. When Shen was seeing Wu out, he attacked her with a hammer, killing her with blows to the head, said officers.
Wu wrapped the body in a quilt and took an unspecified sum of money.
He is said to have told police that he committed the crime due to heavy debts. The Shanghai native had 600,000 yuan (US$97,076) credit card bills, while his monthly income was 2,800 yuan after tax, police said.
