A 4-year-old girl nicknamed Xiao Xin with a rare skin disease that has left her hands as wrinkled as a senior's has traveled with her family from Zhejiang Province to Shanghai for treatment.

Doctors said she has Alagille syndrome, a genetic disorder affecting the liver, heart, kidneys and other systems.

Her parents are both disabled and they noticed symptoms like yellowish spots on the skin and itchiness when Xiao Xin was about 3 months old.

She was born underweight at 1.5kg and was in intensive care for one month.

The estimated prevalence of Alagille syndrome is one per 100,000 live births. Her condition can't be cured but can be controlled with proper medication.
