Fruit dealer arrested on suspicion of stabbing business partner to death

A man was arrested by local police on suspicion of stabbing a fruit wholesaler to death after a dispute over the wholesale payment, prosecutors in Putuo District said Tuesday.

The suspect, surnamed Zhang, was reported had a dispute with the victim, surnamed Jing, because he only paid Jing half of the money for the apples bought from him.

According to prosecutors, on February 10 this year, Zhang arrived at Jing's house to pay the money he owed Jing for early apple wholesaling. Since these apples didn't sold well, after a drink, Zhang only gave Jing half of the 8,000-yuan payment.

The two then started quarreling. Zhang grabbed a knife on the table to stab Jing. Zhang fled the scene after the attack. Jing was found dead the next day by a friend.

Police soon targeted Zhang as the suspect and nabbed him in a hotel in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province. Zhang's brother who helped him to flee to Wuxi was also arrested for covering up for him, prosecutors said.
