Fest sets out to liven up nature

THE 2nd Shanghai International Nature Conservation Festival aims to to engage the public to learn everything about nature, including how to protect nature.

The eight-day festival, launched on Saturday at the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum, will broadcast free science and education films at cultural facilities in 130 communities and on the East Movie Channel.

The public will be also able to listen to 18 leading biologists and pioneers in natural conservation practices from China and abroad at 31 workshops and lectures. The topics include biodiversity in the Yangtze River, and saving waterbirds in Cambodia.

People can also take a tourist's manual to learn about the biodiversity along the Yangtze River and be exposed to activities including birdwatching and appreciating various species of plants.
