Enrollment practices ‘illegal’
A private non-diploma educational institute has engaged in illegal enrollment practices at its branch in Qingpu, the education bureau in Xuhui District announced yesterday.
The Shanghai Real Estate College was told to cease such practices and cooperate with the authorities in their effort to hold those responsible accountable, the bureau said.
It did not provide details about the school’s violations, but an official yesterday explained that the decision was based on a primary inspection and that more information would be released when its investigation is completed.
The Shanghai Education Commission, meanwhile, revealed that the college is only permitted to provide non-diploma educational services, but had been enrolling students in their compulsory education years.
The district said it would investigate all educational institutes in the district to prevent similar violations.
