Corruption cases on rise
SHANGHAI’S discipline watchdog said yesterday that it confirmed 2,135 reports of corruption in the first 11 months of the year, an increase of 214 percent on the same period of 2013. The cases involved 96 bureau-level officials. A total of 1,006 cases involving 14 bureau-level officials were opened in the period, while 929 cases were closed. In the closed cases, 897 people, including 11 bureau-level officials, were given disciplinary punishments, while 72 were handed over to the legal authorities.
