Conductor’s plea to help over autism
A fund helping children in the city suffering from autism will be used to help patients and their families. It was set up by civil affairs authorities and Shanghai Charity Foundation.
“The fund will support autism programs and promote the research of autism,” said Shi Nanchang, vice chairman of the foundation, yesterday.
One in every 58 new born babies is said to have autism.
Renowned 92-year-old Chinese conductor Cao Peng was appointed the ambassador of autism care at yesterday’s ceremony. He called for more understanding and care for autism patients.
Yesterday also marked the second China Charity Day.
