City IPR court hears 1st case
SHANGHAI’S intellectual property rights court that opened on January 1 heard its first case on Friday.
A subsidiary of Hewlett-Packard Company claimed a local firm illegally produced and sold a HP patented ink cartridge, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Rights Court said yesterday.
Hewlett-Packard Development Company LP demanded Shanghai Yinjia International Trade Company cease the infringement and pay 1 million yuan (US$161,000) compensation.
Yinjia argued that the technology used in its ink cartridge is different from that in HP’s HP818XL Black ink cartridge. The court did not give a ruling on the case on Friday.
