SEVEN people have been held by police in connection with theft scam in Zhabei District in which a gang hired luxury cars, sold them, then stole them back, police said yesterday. The BMW involved in the most recent case was found and returned to the rental firm. The company reported to police in February that it had lost contact with the car. Police tracked it down to Xuzhou in neighboring Jiangsu Province and held the customer who had allegedly attempted to sell the car at a low price.
