Bus driver forgets his certificate
PASSENGERS aboard a bus bound for east China’s Jiangsu Province had to make a 45-minute detour yesterday when their driver was stopped at an expressway checkpoint for not having the proper documentation.
Shanghai traffic police said yesterday that they are being more vigilant with regards to checking the credentials of long-distance bus drivers during the holiday period.
All buses with nine or more seats are given a certificate to confirm they meet safety standards. If the driver cannot produce the document they will not be allowed to leave the city, police said.
The driver heading for Jiangsu yesterday was stopped at a toll station on the G15 Shenhai Expressway.
He resolved the problem by heading back to his depot to pick up the document. His forgetfulness cost his passengers, who remained aboard, about 45 minutes.
