Bridge works will compound Yuyuan traffic
A two-month improvement project for a on-ramp slip road to Nanpu Bridge starts on Sunday and is scheduled to finish on August 30.
Shanghai traffic police said yesterday the work will add to traffic pressure in the area south of Yuyuan Garden. The on-ramp leads in from the crossroads of Dongjiadu Road and Zhongshan Road S. onto the bridge’s southern approach.
The ramp’s entrance will be moved 170 meters so it better connects with the new tunnel under Zhongshan Road S. that is under construction and is due to open early next year.
During the ramp project, one or two lanes on Zhongshan Road S. between Dongjiadu Road and Duojia Road in the north to south direction will be closed from 11pm to 5am, but no lanes will be affected at other times.
The on-ramp to Nanpu Bridge is one of the city’s busiest roadways. Police advise motorists to take other slip roads onto the bridge, such as that on Waimalu Road.
Bus lines No. 736 and 576 will be rerouted to use the bridge via the slip road on Lujiabang Road.
