Arson suspect arrested

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of setting fire to a law firm’s office in Songjiang District after she lost a lawsuit, the Songjiang District People’s Procuratorate said yesterday.

According to prosecutors, the woman, surnamed Xie, employed a lawyer, surnamed Yao, from the law firm last year to handle an administrative lawsuit, but she lost the case and the subsequent appeal. In December last year, Xie allegedly broke into the office and set fire to a curtain. Xie was picked up by police in April this year and confessed to the arson.
