Action to improve trade unions
TIANPING subdistrict in Xuhui launched a series of measures yesterday for local trade unions to better serve employees as well as to attract more workers without formal labor contracts, such as housekeepers and delivery staff.
The subdistrict is one of the city’s trial areas of trade union reforms in companies.
Measures include covering health certificate expenses for new migrant worker members, providing a subsidy on their health examinations, and more vocational training.
For members without formal labor contracts or whose companies do not have trade unions, the average service budget on each person should reach 420 yuan (US$61) a year, with the funding subsidized by the city’s general trade union and local government, according to the measures.
