9 hurt in escalator fall

NINE people were injured after tumbling down an escalator at East Xujing Station of Metro Line 2 at 6pm yesterday, after the top was blocked by other passengers. Several people stood at the top of the up escalator, blocking other commuters, the Metro operator said. The escalator was stopped after the accident. The injuries were not life-threatening, said an official.
