16 students injured in highway school bus crash

SIXTEEN students, 14 girls and two boys, were slightly injured in a traffic accident on Monday morning, when the school bus had a collision with a crane on Zhouzhu Highway.
Most of the injuries are the face or limb, Pudong Hospital said.
As of 10am, 10 students had left the hospital, three will be hospitalized, two will stay for further observation and one had been transferred to another hospital.
The students are from Zhoupu High School affiliated to East China Normal University. The school said a crane suddenly hit the school bus from its top, and the driver made a sudden turn with the bus finally slamming into a tree on the roadside, xinmin.cn said.
The hospital said none of the injured students were wearing safety belts.
According to the city's regulation, passengers are required to wear safety belt in vehicles running on expressways or highways.
