13 swimming pools shut over safety fears
THIRTEEN local swimming pools were ordered to suspend operations after the health authorities found they contained excessive amounts of urea and bacteria.
The pools, including the sports center in Nanhui in Pudong New Area, will not be allowed to reopen until they rectify the problems, according to the sanitation supervision authority of the Shanghai Health and Family Planning Commission.
The commission said it has inspected 456 swimming pools since June and that more are planned.
