Ying Yong appointed city vice mayor

SHANGHAI Deputy Party Secretary Ying Yong was appointed vice mayor of the city after the approval from the city’s legislative body this afternoon.

Ying, 59, a native of the city’s neighboring Zhejiang Province, has been serving as the city’s deputy Party secretary since July 2014. He is also the First Vice President of China Executive Leadership Academy Pudong.

He served as the president and secretary of Party committee of Shanghai Higher People's Court between January 2008 and April 2013.

He was later appointed head of the city’s organization department between 2013 and 2014.

Before that, he was president and secretary of Party committee of Zhejiang Province Higher People's Court between January and November in 2006.

Ying gained a master degree in law from Hangzhou University, which becomes the Zhejiang University now. He joined the Communist Party of China in April 1979.
