Wet weather until Sunday
WET and chilly weather is forecast through to Sunday, forecasters said yesterday.
Yesterday, the first working day after the week-long Spring Festival holiday, saw heavy rain throughout the day with thundershowers in southern areas.
Today should get off to a dry start before rain arrives later. Temperatures will range between 6 and 10 degrees Celsius, said the Shanghai Meteorological Bureau.
A weak cold front will arrive tomorrow, pushing the high down to 6 degrees. Heavier rain is forecast on Saturday, with a high of 7 and a low of 4 degrees.
The rain will taper off on Sunday, though it will remain overcast and the mercury should reach 10 degrees.
Clear weather is forecast on Monday, with the high 12 degrees.
Generally, late February often sees three or four wet days, though in 2012, seven rainy days were recorded in a nine-day stretch.
Under the influence of warm and moist air, thunder is not rare in Shanghai at this time of year, said forecasters.
