Weather causes rising water demand
THE scorching heat has been blamed for Shanghai’s water consumption rising to 7.07 million cubic meters on Sunday, the highest so far this summer, officials said yesterday.
However, the municipal water supply is sufficient to meet rising demand across the city, and the local water plants are running smoothly, said the Shanghai Chengtou Group, the city’s tap water supplier.
As the city will endure temperatures over 38 degrees Celsius for another week, water consumption is expected to remain high, said the group.
Residents who have water-related problems can call the hotline 962740.
