Weak cold front arrives as 40-day Sanfu, or summer's hottest days, ends

A weak cold front will arrive this afternoon to break the heat wave that has scorched Shanghai for consecutive of 13 days, forecasters said.

Temperature will be pushed back from tomorrow, with the high decreasing 4 to 6 degress Celsius.

And showers may hit the city. It is forecasted that this year’s 10th typhoon Lionrock won't directly hit the city.

But residents are still warned of gale from the sea.

Today also marks the end of the city’s 40-day sanfu period, or the hottest days of summer in the Chinese lunar calendar.
