Turkey’s scenic spots unaffected by state of emergency
TURKEY’S airport and tourist spots have been unaffected by the three-month state of emergency declared by the government after the recent coup attempt, said Tugrul Kusoglu, Acting Consul General of Turkey in Shanghai on Monday.
“It’s not meant to affect tourism, business communication and daily life of the Turkish citizens,” he said at a press conference.
There are no additional security checks on Turkish or foreign nationals at the airports, and none of the tourist spots have shut down, Kusoglu said.
“The safety of foreign tourists in Turkey is guaranteed by the Turkish government,” he added.
Kusoglu confirmed that teachers from education institutions affiliated to the Turkish government have been forbidden from leaving the country, but said so far there are “not many cases” where Turkish scholars in foreign countries are required to return to the country.
