Traffic arrangements on race day

SUNDAY’S long distance run has also meant a marathon job for the city’s traffic authorities.

Some streets in downtown Shanghai will be closed to traffic and 124 bus lines have been temporarily rerouted.

In the Bund area, vehicles will be banned from Suzhou Road S., Beijing Road E., Dianchi Road, Nanjing Road E., Jiujiang Road and Hankou Road between Zhongshan Road E1 and Sichuan Road M. from midnight to 7:45am on Sunday. Traffic bans will also apply — from 5am to 7:45am — to Zhongshan Road E1. from Waibaidu Bridge to Xinkaihe Road.

From 6:30am to 7:45am, vehicles will be banned from using the off-ramp of Yan’an Elevated Road to Jiangxi Road M., while both cars and bikes will be banned from Yan’an Road E. between Sichuan Road M. and Zhongshan Road E1.

Elsewhere, the off-ramp of Yan’an Elevated Road to Huashan Road and the off-ramp of the North-South Elevated Road to Huaihai Road M. will be shut down respectively from 7am to 8:30am and from 7:15am to 9am.

Eight bus routes won’t be operating on Sunday due to the event. These affect buses No. 20, 167, 454, 805, 864, 1212, 1216 and 1222. The 41 and 56 lines are among dozens of bus services offering only limited services. A further 26 bus lines will be rerouted, including Airport Line 2 whose urban terminal is in Jing’an Temple area.
